Spurl Revisited

Since it’s inception, the NWP’s Technology Liaison (TL) Network pushed the forefront for the use of technology to promote the teaching of writing. Every day, educators are contemplating and giving advice the latest web technology through a private listserv. In fact, Will Richardson’s groundbreaking book, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms, read much like a summarization of the past year’s worth of dialogue over the TL listserv.

Several weeks ago, the TL listserv began a Spurl to record websites and research journals that support the use of technology in the classroom. This project was a collaborative effort; I’ve even added my share of bookmarks and search tags. Keep an eye (or RSS feed) on our Spurl, as it could prove to be a valuable resource if maintained.

The TL Network is considering another collaborative project; this time to create a wiki to write and publish how-to manuals for the various resources up on the Spurl. And this is only the start of our work. The Spurl and wiki are tools to train NWP Teacher Consultants, and in turn, teachers around the nation.
