Symptoms: Calendars, Magazines, and Blogs
Issues of Time are piling up, and I haven’t read an issue of Runner’s World in about two months. The calendar pinned to the wall reports that September lingers on. I don’t keep a running journal outside my race reviews. But if I did, I’m certain the pages would be blank for the past two weeks. In fact, my blog is peppered with good intentions- topics with TBA guiltily written in the body. All telltale signs that I am overworked, or have allowed myself to become overwhelmed.
Write weekly. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Read a book now and again. Grade papers. Spend time with the wife. Practice guitar. Take graduate classes at night. Teach. Keep up with technology (what’s a wiki?). Schedule leisure time. Band practice. Coach. Maintain the websites. Keep in touch with family. Stay current with the news. Write new music. Pay the bills. Blog often. And I don’t even have kids!
Sheesh. Sure miss the old days when I could play marathon video game sessions, or drink on any given weeknight. Twixters, hold on as long as you can!
